Gainey Ranch's Fall Calendar Moves to the Neighborhood's Edges Until the Golf Course Reopens

  • October 22, 2026

All three nines at Gainey Ranch Golf Club are closed today for winter overseeding, and that has been true since Oct. 12. According to the Arizona Golf Association's 2026 overseeding schedule, the course reopens in two stages, with the last nine coming back on Nov. 10. Most of the dated fall events nearby fall inside the same weeks, and nearly all of them are at the two commercial addresses next to the community: The Shops Gainey Village on Scottsdale Road and the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort on Doubletree Ranch Road.

The Course Returns in Two Stages

The closures are staggered, so the course never goes from fully open to fully closed in one day. The Lakes and Dunes nines closed first, and the Arroyo nine closed a week later. They reopen in the same order.

Nine Closed Reopens
Lakes Nine Oct. 5, 2026 Nov. 3, 2026
Dunes Nine Oct. 5, 2026 Nov. 3, 2026
Arroyo Nine Oct. 12, 2026 Nov. 10, 2026

Each nine is closed for 29 days, and the closures overlap. From Oct. 12 through Nov. 2, all 27 holes are closed together. From Nov. 3 to Nov. 10, Lakes and Dunes make up an 18-hole course while Arroyo finishes. After Nov. 10 the full layout is back.

Gainey Ranch Golf Club describes itself as a private club, with dining reserved for members and invited guests. That leaves only two nearby places with a public fall calendar, and both have scheduled their busiest dates inside the closure.

Gainey Village's Sale Starts Today

The Shops Gainey Village, at 8787 to 8989 N. Scottsdale Rd., holds its annual Fall Outdoor Shopping Sale from Thursday, Oct. 22, through Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The center's listing names these participating businesses, describing the sale as covering fashion, home décor, wellness, beauty, and dining:

  • Village Tavern
  • Diva Women's Wear
  • StretchLab
  • Femme
  • Alixandra
  • Paris Paris
  • Kreiss
  • Look Lab Med Spa
  • CARINE Apparel
  • Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming

The sale's three days fall at the midpoint of the full closure, ten days after Arroyo went offline and twelve days before Lakes and Dunes return. The center's next listed event is on Halloween. Hash Kitchen plans spooky DJ sets that night, and loyalty members can build a free Halloween tote. The center's events page doesn't list a start time yet.

The Dining Lineup Changed Before Fall Did

If you last ate at Gainey Village before this year, the center has a different mix of restaurants now. Three changes this year account for most of it.

Mendocino Farms opened its first Arizona location in February at 8777 N. Scottsdale Rd. Marketing manager Keenan Thanprathit told AZFamily, "We're so excited to be planting our roots here in Scottsdale." The center's directory lists it as open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Frank & Lupe's reopened in Suite 214 at 8787 N. Scottsdale Rd. this spring under new owner Piero Aviles. Aviles told Fabulous Arizona, "We're not changing what works. Lupe's recipes, her traditions, and her standards are still at the center of everything we do." PHOENIX magazine's June report also said the new owner would keep the Bernal family recipes.

There was also a departure. Corso Italia in Gainey Ranch closed, according to PHOENIX magazine's roundup of July closings.

So the sale this week is the first big seasonal event at the center since these changes. A lunch counter that opened in February and a Mexican restaurant revived this spring will see their first fall shopping crowd at the same time.

On Doubletree Ranch Road, Fridays Are Booked Through the Reopening

The Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort, at 7500 E. Doubletree Ranch Rd., is running its Harvest at Grand Hyatt program from Sept. 19 to Nov. 26. Hyatt describes it as seasonal programming "for both locals and resort guests," including family activities, Oktoberfest celebrations, and fireside evenings. The property was the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch until a $115 million renovation and the switch to the Grand Hyatt brand, which Hyatt announced in November 2024. This is its second fall under the Grand Hyatt name, and the first with a published Friday film schedule that runs through the overseed window.

Harvest Movie Nights run Fridays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Here are the remaining dates and how each one lines up with the course:

  1. Oct. 23: The Haunted Mansion (2003). All three nines are still closed.
  2. Oct. 30: Hocus Pocus (1993). All three nines are still closed.
  3. Nov. 6: E.T. Lakes and Dunes have been open for three days.
  4. Nov. 13: Matilda. The full course has been open since Nov. 10.
  5. Nov. 20: The Chronicles of Narnia.
  6. Nov. 27: The Nightmare Before Christmas. This is the day after Harvest's listed end date.

The resort's listing gives titles and times but no price. Call ahead before planning a family night around one of these.

Halloween is the busiest night on both calendars. The Grand Hyatt is hosting a 21-and-over Masquerade Halloween Party at Grand Vista Lounge on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. Fabulous Arizona's event listing describes live music, themed cocktails, and a costume contest, with tickets starting at $49 plus fees. That same night, Hash Kitchen at Gainey Village has its DJ event. The neighborhood's two commercial edges have dated Halloween plans for the same Saturday, and the golf course won't have any of its holes open for three more days.

Weekends now include a morning option too. La Zozzona, one of the resort's Richard Blais restaurants, serves weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the resort recommends reservations. The resort's homepage calls the brunch all-new as of October 2026. The other dining outlets on the property are Tiki Taka, Grand Vista Lounge, Mesa Centrale, H2Oasis, and Sandbar.

What the Calendar Looks Like Once the Arroyo Nine Reopens

Gainey Village's sale, both October movie nights, both Halloween events, and the first weekends of La Zozzona's new brunch all fall between Oct. 12 and Nov. 2, while all three nines are closed. The Nov. 6 screening falls in the week the club runs on Lakes and Dunes alone.

After Nov. 10, there's less on the calendar. Gainey Village has no events listed after Halloween. The Grand Hyatt has three Friday movies left and a Harvest season that ends Nov. 26. The Arroyo nine reopens on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
